Located at the Historic Redstone Stables
Started in 1983 by Mike and Judy Schilling, Avalanche Outfitters operated in mainly the Avalanche Creek and Perham Creek Drainage's. Bo Jones purchased the business in 2007 where he acquired more permits surrounding the Redstone area. In late 2016, Current Owner Josh Wamboldt purchased the business from Bo after a long career of working for other outfitters in CO. Avalanche Outfitters currently offers Summer/Fall Horseback Rides, Summer Pack Trips, and Fall Big Game Hunts, they then move to Arizona for the winter where they provide the Horseback Rides for Castle Hot Springs Resort in Castle Hot Springs, AZ. We strive for a western experience for all of our clients, you wont catch the Wranglers in tshirts and ball caps when they are out riding. Avalanche Outfitters currently operates out of several drainages including Avalanche Creek, East Creek, Hawk Creek, Braderich Creek, Perham Creek, Hayes Creek and the Coal Basin area. Game Management units 43, S25 and G12. Horseback Riding season typically runs May 10-August 31, with some openings in Sept and Oct. Hunting seasons are offered during the Archery, Muzzleloader, Early Rifle, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Rifle seasons. Catch Avalanche Outfitters in at Castle Hot Springs Resort in Arizona from November until May.
Josh started his horse career at a young age, and got very extensively interested in horses around the age of 11. Where he would help out the local roping club in Eagle, CO. He then began working summers with Triple G Outfitters in Wolcott, CO. His rodeo career kicked off from a young age and competed in many events including Bareback Bronc riding, Bull Riding, Team Roping and Calf Roping. Josh, then moved to work with Bearcat Stables in Edwards, CO where he stayed for several years, before starting work with Bridgestone Tires. In 2016, he purchased Avalanche Outfitters and has been operating it solely since. Josh's hunting career kicked off at a young age hunting along side his dad, Josh has hunted Elk, Deer, Bear, Waterfowl and small game with a passion. With many years of Outfitting and Horse Experience under his belt he strives to give every person a once in a lifetime experience and also enjoys teaching his clients as much as possible.
